Fancy a Walk on Tree Top?

Where is Sungai Sedim anyway? Sungai Sedim is located in a small Kampung Lindungan Raja in Kulim district of Kedah, which located within the Gunung Inas Forest Reserve is a lovely place to have a river picnic. Quiet, very peaceful and serene. Only fresh jungle air and the sound of water rushing by the stream. I was there twice - once was last 2 years during fruity season where we had BBQ and loads on durian, manggis, duku and rambutan....I was then having durian all I can eat, then went to swim and dip in the freaking cold water - after that I suffered cold and fever plus coughing for a month! This time round, I swear ...no swimming! I was more excited to go there to take picture - the river, insects, animals and plants, and of course, to eat. The river is also said as one of the best heart-stopping water rapids in the world. It has fast flowing waters and rapids excellent for white water rafting & kayaking. Top Tree Walk, at about 1km long said to be the longest canopy walk in the world (?) was opened couple of years backs has another offerring experience for visitors to walk at the top of the trees.
2 years back as a first timer, we get frustated and difficult to get there because there’s not many signs available after you enter the village area .We have to go through small path in between kampong houses where the road leading to the place is quite narrow. At one time, only one car is able to pass through. This recent trip was easier as many signboards just there for you not to miss the place. They're building new road, cutting the journey short but it is still under construction. Thinking back I woulld prefer passing through village houses and narrow roads as it giving Sungai Sedim a place to go to enjoy the smells of nature.
Streams merry merrily.. photo taken frm the roadside entering pricnic area...
From my place we drove through Butterworth Kulim Expressway head towards Kulim, then taking exit to Kulim High Tech Park. Moving forward you'll pass through those world class factories, further, you will soon reach a place called Karangan. From there just follow the signboard to Sungai Sedim Tree Top Walk and picnic area. Oh yeah, as you're coming to the Kulim Hitech Park are, just off your AC and unwind your screen, the fresh air is superb! Super refreshing.
As reached and we mommy's are busy arranging food for breakfast and dads just lit the fire for satay and chicken BBQ, before I knew it, Ammer had brave himself to jump into the river. I was worry as the stream looks calm but the current is really strong. After he had a dip in the river, definitely hard to get him up. He easily make friends with her dads collegue, big boys are there.. not too worry then.
makan first!Sponsored food other than BBQ is nasi lemak, mee goreng mamak and laksa. Most of us brought our own to share...My abang asked me to cook pulut tanak to go with ikan asin plus fresh grated coconut- a whole purely taditional breakfast set for padi farmer in Kedah. Glad to bring home emptied containers:p

KakNgah envy the river rafters...next time dear! Sungai Sedim is a fast-flowing river that contains a 17 km stretch for white-water rafting. This is by appointment only; RM 110 per person per session with trainer and guide.Look at the water, clear like jelly.

After food we then proceed to the canopy, not too may are interested, only me and the kids and the Japanese! Alamakkk tak best nyer...Later we manage to convince all including TokMa and Atok taking bro Arman's kids firm at their hand, and baby Nuqman too.

The second group went later as someone has to take care of our food and BBQ.The canopy walkway measures 925 metres long and is about 50 metres high is worth a try of RM10 for adults and RM6 for children. Its firm and does not sway as you walk along it, though for those scared of heights, try not to peep down as you may feel a little bit dizzy. Arigato gozaimaz to Tagata-san for sponsoring the tickets fo all 16 pax!

Photo's taken along the walkway

the world longest canopy walk is here...in Kulim.

Cover yr head pals.. you're up in the jungle above the trees... it hot! Agata-san and my abang at the highest point 26 050..pretty high huh...Not really lah! it's in mm!

the river below ...

these are just next to you..reacheable by hand...

top of the tree...

50 meters below my feet...gerunnnnn...dalam nya lubuk tu!

Thanks to my Abang office team whose organising... Indeed a wonderful day trip...Badly need it!
